About Condura Skyway Marathon:
The Condura Skyway marathon was born because of Mr. Ton Concepcions passion for running, the environment and event organizing. His vision is to bring the same race experience he felt at the New York City marathon to the Philippines.
He has worked tirelessly to live up to this vision by throughly planning and organizing every aspect of the marathon to ensure no stone is left unturned. As a result he probably is the only runner who has not run the Condura Skyway marathon as he is always busy being hands on organizing and supervising the race on a yellow Vespa that he drives around the race route. His simple wish is to one day run the Condura Skyway marathon.
According to Mr. Concpecion, the vision of the Condura Skyway marathon is to be the premier marathon in the Asia-Pacific region through World class race organization and providing the latest technology and best practices in race organization. The Condura skyway marathon is a run by runners for runners. Our mission is to make runners feel the love and to cry with joy when they cross the finish line!
Our second mission is to preserve the marine environment. The inspiration came when Mr. Concepcion who is an avid scuba diver dove Tubbataha in 2005. He was so touched with the sacrifice of the marine rangers who spend 6 months of a year on a sand bar the size of a basketball court that goes underwater everyday in order to protect the reefs. He vowed to help and thus the first Condura Run for Tubataha was born. Since then there has been a Condura run for the whale sharks of Donsol and 2 run for the Dolphins of Bohol. Condura through its runners has raised close to P2 million pesos to protect the marine environment. It has partnered with ABS-CBN's Bantay Kalikasan, Tubbataha Reefs Management Office, Ayala Foundation and Siliman University.
Our third vision is to promote the Philippines as a sports-eco-tourism destination. According to Mr. Concepcion, "we would love to have foreign runners come to the Philippines to run Condura then have a vacation for the place that they ran for."
